The Czech Republic, France and Germany are exploring opportunities to increase imports of natural gas from Algeria. Czech representatives have discussed raising annual supplies from 200 million to 400 million cubic metres.

According to the industry publication Neftegazovaya Vertikal, Algeria’s LNG exports fell by 13% in the first nine months of 2026 to 6.02 million tonnes. Shipments in the third quarter declined by 27%.

Higher domestic gas consumption, notably in power generation, is one of the constraints. Expanding exports would require investment in production and export infrastructure.

Algeria has a substantial resource base and remains an important supplier to Europe. The pace of any increase in deliveries will depend on the availability of additional gas volumes, not demand and contracts alone.
