Concept for recovering part of the thermal energy in gas compressor exhaust and converting it into electricity for compressor-station needs. Technical and economic feasibility require site data.
Select a typical compressor unit, determine exhaust heat and operating constraints, compare conversion technologies, prepare a preliminary feasibility study and assess a pilot installation.
Project status
Prospective initiative. Prototype, testing and deployment milestones require documentary confirmation. All development stages are planned rather than completed.
Industrial cooperation
The Cluster is identifying suitable engineering, manufacturing, testing and industrial users. Proposals are submitted through the Cluster project cooperation form.
Areas of application and technical verification
The intended sites are gas transmission compressor stations and other industrial gas-turbine facilities. Output, efficiency and payback must not be assumed without unit-specific operating data.
Planned stages and partnership
Planned work: select a representative compressor unit, collect exhaust flow and temperature data, compare power conversion options, prepare a heat balance and feasibility study, and consider a demonstrator.
The Cluster seeks thermal engineers, power-equipment developers, automation specialists and a potential operating site.
