KHAMELEON-I. Protective fluoropolymer coatings

Project purpose and development scope

Development initiative for fluoropolymer-based protective coatings for oil and gas equipment. Adhesion, chemical resistance and application procedures require testing.

Select target equipment and exposure conditions, develop coating formulations, prepare samples, qualify performance and organise repeatable industrial application.

Project status

Prospective initiative. Prototype, testing and deployment milestones require documentary confirmation. All development stages are planned rather than completed.

Industrial cooperation

The Cluster is identifying suitable engineering, manufacturing, testing and industrial users. Proposals are submitted through the Cluster project cooperation form.

Areas of application and technical verification

Applications under consideration include valves, structural steelwork and components of onshore and subsea equipment. Each service environment requires its own qualification requirements.

Planned stages and partnership

Planned work: define exposure conditions, select the fluoropolymer composition, prepare and coat samples, assess adhesion and corrosion resistance, qualify chosen components and establish industrial application controls.

The Cluster seeks a formulation developer, coating contractor, corrosion laboratory and equipment OEM.
